    SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER THERAPY

You may have recognised that each year as the days become shorter and the nights longer that you have become less active and dread the arrival of winter.

Symptoms which typically start in September and continue till March include:

    Ø  Tiredness

    Ø  Poor concentration

    Ø  Increased anxiety

Ø  Physical symptoms such as headaches and/or general    aches &  pains

Ø  Increased appetite and weight gain

The exact cause of SAD in unclear, however the reduced amount of sunlight appears to affect the levels of certain chemicals and hormones within the brain. These chemicals can affect your mood and emotions and can trigger depression. For some in may be genetic and other members of your family may be affected.

It is estimated that 7% of people in the UK are thought to have SAD. Although these figures may be greatly underestimated due to the varying symptoms and a tendency to try to cope alone.

I offer a combination of therapies which include cognitive behaviour therapy, (CBT), relaxation techniques and self-hypnosis, light exposure therapy and chair massage.

The ten session course also includes coping strategies and ‘mental tools’ for you to help with the ‘ups and downs’ of winter to allow better quality of life.

Please call for more information or complete the contact form to book a free consultation.

Bookings are now being taken for winter therapy course beginning September and October
